Cher Murphy advises leaders on building organizational capability, increasing credibility, and leading effective, diverse teams during uncertainty with the quickening pace of change.

She is an applied anthropologist, an executive coach, and a reticulist.

As an advisor to executive teams and boards, she has spent the last 20+ years advising teams in scaling portfolio companies for venture capital & private equity firms and driving transformations at Fortune 100 and FTSE 100 organizations. Her expertise includes coaching executives, team coaching, talent assessment and creating people strategies to drive growth and create stability.

Having consulted for Nike, Amazon, McKinsey & Company, Ford Motor Company, Wells Fargo, Patagonia, McDonald’s, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Tory Burch and Microsoft, Cher has partnered with large global organizations reaching an inflection point. Working with Haven, WeWork, Chewy.com, and Opendoor while focused on scaling, Cher helped their leadership develop the capability to foster new forms of value creation.

Cher was the Chief People Officer for a global creative agency and the Chief Talent Officer for a research think tank that studies the people practices of high-performing organizations.

Prior, Cher was a founding Partner/Managing Director of multiple executive search boutiques focused on Human Resources and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership.

Cher began her career in retained executive search at Heidrick & Struggles in the Asset and Wealth Management Practice and the Human Resources Practice working with clients in the US, EMEA and UAE.

Cher earned her Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Houston. She completed her Master of Science, Organizational Development at the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University, where she is an Adjunct Professor for the MBA program teaching Talent Management. Cher is a member of Marshall Goldsmith’s 100 Coaches.

Cher is an Advisor for Transform, the people-driven thought leadership ecosystem driving the conversations & innovations for the new world of work, and an Advisor for Sempervirens Venture Capital. She is a member of the Partner Network for On Partners, a leading pure play retained executive search firm. Cher is an Advisory Board member for the Mentor Project and a member of the Board of Directors for AID International, a nonprofit organization that partners with Haitian communities to become self-sustainable amidst the current political unrest.
